Georgia Volioti graduated from Imperial College, London where she read Biology, with first class honours. She was recipient of the Murray Prize in physiology and went on to pursue research in experimental cellular and molecular biology. It was not too long though before she eagerly swapped the lab bench for further piano and academic studies in music. She completed the Masters in music at Royal Holloway, University of London, in 2005 with distinction and was appointed a CHARM research studentship in 2006. Her thesis focuses on the performance history of the piano music of Edvard Grieg. She continues her piano studies with Ruth Harte in London and is a Licentiate of the Guildhall School of Music. She has also held a professional position with EPTA UK since 2004 with a role in developing training courses for instrumental teachers and takes a keen interest in pedagogy.
